Spyware Eliminator provides the highest number of features of the software tested in this roundup and the protection was very good. While the protection is not as good as Spy Sweeper, hence the second ranking, this software provides a very compelling package with a very good interface. The second and first position are very closely matched in our tests and both are excellent software packages.

Eliminator provides comprehensive protection closely second to Spy Sweeper. Eliminator detected all of the spyware we had installed, including all of the keyloggers. The removal was a bit spotty in a very few places with good coverage on most all of the nastiest of the spyware including hijackware, trojans, and keyloggers. Eliminator did have some problems removing some of the keyloggers and the "lstbar" hijackware however. Hopefully the autoupdate will be updated to include these nasty new hijackers in future updates. Finally the active protection could have been better with protection against drive-by downloads as well.

The interface was informative and nicely color coded for severity and generally well organized. We had no problems with the interface and found it to be very informative, with detailed descriptions. The help system was unrivalled in this roundup. There were a number of options including telephone support, built in program help, extensive docs, and forums. We didn't really need any of these resources during the test, but we did see that this was well put together.

Summary:

Eliminator is feature rich and has strong spyware protection against all types of Spyware in an easy to use interface. The removal abilities were not as good as sweeper but are still on par. With the most help features and the best interface of the bunch this package is a compelling buy.
